Simulations - Introduction

To measure the success of the experiment design, CAD models have been created to allow analysis to be carried out for each stage of the mission.

These stages are: the launch; the deployment; and re-entry.

At each stage, there are a number of conditions that need to be analysed.

For Launch, there is a large acceleration and a vibration environment that needs to be modelled.

For the deployment phase, the inflation characteristics can be modelled for a comparison with the real world data.

Finally, for re-entry, impact testing is required to ensure minimal damage to the electronic components stored beneath the bulkhead.

Thermal analysis has been carried out throughout each phase of the experiment.
